Sweet Sensation Saturday #1: Strawberry Shortcake

Hey Y'all and welcome to Sweet Sensation Saturday!!

Today's treat is so easy, so let's get it started.

Strawberry Shortcake
Serves 10-12

Cooking Level: Beginner
  • 1 box of white cake mix
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 stick of melted butter
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups of sliced strawberries
  • 3 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 (8 oz) containers of thawed whipped topping
  • Nonstick cooking spray

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Spray 2 8 in round cake pans with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
  3. In a large bowl combine cake mix, egg whites, melted butter, vanilla and milk until well blended.
  4. Divide cake mix evenly into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. While cake is baking put sliced strawberries and sugar in a bowl. Set aside.
  6. Once cake is baked and cooled completely begin to cover once cake with thawed whipped topping.
  7. In the center of the cake spread sugar strawberries evenly leaving about 1 in of room from the rim.
  8. Place the second cake on top and cover completely with whipped topping.
  9. Garnish with strawberries and refrigerate until ready to serve.
